What is the survey about?
The Jackson County Health Department, alongside other community partners, conducts community health surveys every 5 years to better understand the health status, needs, and perspectives of county residents.
Who will receive the survey?
Jackson County Health Department is inviting 22,500 households to participate in this survey. Residents were randomly selected using an address-based sampling (ABS) method to capture a diverse representation of people who represent a variety of backgrounds. Anyone who receives an invitation is strongly encouraged to complete the survey to represent their community!
What kinds of questions are asked?
Examples of questions include topics such as: physical and mental health; health behaviors; access to healthcare and quality housing; neighborhood infrastructure and safety; and citizen perspectives about health concerns and community strengths.
How long is this survey?
The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete.
Are responses confidential?
Answers to the survey are all completely confidential. Survey responses will be combined and analyzed at the aggregate level, which means that no one person’s answers will be reported.
How will the data be used?
Data will be used to identify and address the public health needs of Jackson County residents. The information will also guide the distribution of funds and public programs and assist communities in better preparing for public health emergencies.
Where will the survey results be found?
Data collected from the survey will be reported in the Jackson County Community Health Assessment, published in Summer 2023.
Do I need to provide identifying information?
No. The survey is completely anonymous. It will only ask basic demographical questions (race/ethnicity, age, ZIP Code).
If you wish to receive a gift card as a thank you for your time, you will need to provide your name and email address. This information will be kept separate from your response in our records so that your survey answers will remain anonymous!
Is there an alternative option for giving feedback?
Yes! Whether you received a survey invitation or not, all Jackson County residents ages 18+ can express their interest in participating in a Community Focus Group.
Participants will be randomly selected, and will be notified of focus group opportunities. Time and locations of focus groups will be disclosed at a later date.
