Program & Policy Specialist

Jackson County Public Health’s Community Initiatives team is hiring a Program & Policy Specialist to lead the Eastern Jackson County Housing & Economic Stability Lab, an interdisciplinary working group utilizing a systems practice and collective impact approaches to moving the needle on one of the most pressing community health concerns of the region.

In this position, the Program & Policy Specialist will work closely with the Community Initiatives team, the cross-divisional Community Health Improvement Process (CHIP) Core Team, as well as community partners from various sectors and communities. This position would be a great opportunity for an individual who has familiarity with the Jackson County region and/or housing policy and practices, a passion for social justice and equity, and is looking to utilize and stretch their skills around relationship-building, facilitation, research and data analysis, community engagement, and strategic planning.

Salary for this role starts at $50,000 and includes a full benefits package. This position is based at the Jackson County Public Health office in Lee’s Summit, MO, and may be eligible for up to 2 remote work days following the 90-day probationary period.

PRN Clinical Nurse RN

The registered nurse provides services in an acute care, ambulatory, behavioral health, or long-term care setting. Provides care patients with acute, chronic, and/or terminal illnesses. Performs an assessment based on the patient’s diagnosis, reason for entry into the system, and care needs. Utilizes the nursing process to plan, perform, delegate, and evaluate the delivery of nursing care. Other duties include interdisciplinary team involvement, committees, program evaluations, research, education, and the supervision of students. Performs duties within the scope of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and established organizational and regulatory requirements.

Public Health Office Assistant

The Public Health Office Assistant provides continuity in achieving patient throughput. Is the first contact with patients who arrive for public health services at the health department and in many cases is first time contact via the telephone. Provides registration services, prepares the patient for treatment, generates the patient record, ensures necessary documentation is completed, including completion of patient satisfaction survey, maintains accountability of revenues collected and follows up with patients as necessary. Provides valuable accounting, record keeping, data entry and inventory functions.

A public health internship can provide practical experience, and an opportunity to contribute to public health initiatives.
