Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the purpose of a CHA?

Just as a person’s health needs change throughout their life, our county’s health is always evolving! The CHA process helps us ensure our community partnerships and programs are a good fit for our county’s current needs.

The published data also serves as a detailed public health reference guide for our staff, our partners, and the public.

Our goal is for this data to be a helpful resource for anyone who’s working to improve our community or who just wants to learn more about our county’s health strengths and challenges.

Where does the CHA's data come from?

The 2023 CHA process included surveying 1000+ county households about their health and communities, analyzing local and state health data, and examining the potential health impact of local policies.

But numbers alone can’t paint a full picture of our region. We also worked closely with community focus groups and key stakeholders to better understand where our residents would like to see the most change.

What topics does the CHA look at?

The CHA covers data on 14 topics that can impact a community’s overall health:

  • Demographics
  • Disability
  • Education
  • Economic Stability
  • Health Resources & Availability
  • Environmental Risks
  • Community Connection & Quality of Life
  • COVID-19
  • Mental & Behavioral Health
  • Maternal, Child, & Infant Health
  • Communicable Disease
  • Policies
  • Life Expectancy
  • Community Resources
